Pollard Middle School Sponsored Activities:

These activities are open to all Pollard students and are offered with no cost to participate.


BEST BUDDIES

Best Buddies is a nonprofit international organization that is dedicated to helping create opportunities for one-to-one friendships for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  You will be paired with a student at Pollard with similar interests and hobbies as you who may have more difficulty making friends and would appreciate your kindness, dedication, and friendship. 

We will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 2:50-3:45 in room M2. Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 2. The other tentative dates are: October 30, December 12, January 8, February 5, March 11, April 8, May 6, June 10. Please see Ms. Grabel in room 293 or Ms. Volpe in M1 with any questions.



SOCIAL JUSTICE LEAGUE

The Social Justice League is a student organization that is open to all students interested in Social Justice. Our mission is to establish and maintain an inclusive environment for all students at Pollard, to challenge social conventions, and serve as a catalyst for personal growth and community action.  We will meet Wednesday afternoons in M6 from 2:50-3:30. Please see Ms. Strauss or Ms. Martyn with any questions. YEARBOOK Do you like to take pictures?   Do you want to be a big part of making YOUR yearbook? MATH CLUB

Are you interested in a FUN, BUT SERIOUS AFTER SCHOOL MATH ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITY? Are you ready to TAKE ON A CHALLENGE, MEET NEW PEOPLE AND SHARPEN YOUR PROBLEM-SOLVING

SKILLS? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, then JOIN THE POLLARD MATH TEAM!!

Math Team meets from 2:50-3:50 pm on Wednesdays in Rm 285 beginning October 2nd.

 

POLLARD POST 

Have you always wanted to write articles for a newspaper? 

Come report on community events and activities for the Pollard newspaper.  

Meeting time:  Every Thursday after school in RM#200.  See Ms. Sargent for more information.


ROBOTICS CLUB

Come and make robots using Lego's advanced EV3 kits.  

In the past we have made remote controlled cars, sumo wrestling robots, races, and stair climbers. We meet Wednesdays after school from 2:50-3:50 in Mr. Marcum’s room (288).


STUDENT COUNCIL 

Student Council is a great opportunity for students to have a say in what is going on at Pollard. Come help create and run fundraisers and other activities, and make your voice heard around the school. 

Meetings are biweekly beginning on Wednesday, October 2nd in Room 270.  Please see Ms. Silver or Ms. Evans with any questions.
