2020 Results 

Mia Maffeo of Cluster 7-1 is the winner of the Pollard Bookmark Contest! 
Her entry has been sent on to the state level,
and online voting for students will be open for the week of March 2-6. 
Students can vote for Mia's entry in Division IV to help her get to the next level of judging. 

All students and MSLA members are welcome to vote once each in school ONLY.
(No parent or outside voting, please!)

Contest Theme: School Libraries build strong communities! 

In addition to voting for the Division IV bookmark,
students can vote for their favorite bookmarks
 in other divisions
that best represent the theme in an artistic way.

School libraries build strong communities!


Contest Timeline 

 

  • January 27th: All Pollard entries due by the end of the day. 

    • Pollard judges will select a winner and two honorable mentions.  

    • The Pollard winner's bookmark will be sent to the state level.

  • March 2-6: Student online voting. 

  • March: A panel of published authors and illustrators will select the winners.  

  • March 30th: Winners will be announced. 

  • May 13: Awards ceremony at An Unlikely Story in Plainville, MA. 

Tips 

  • Start early! Sketch and draft a few ideas before settling on your final idea.  

  • Judges will consider both artistic merit and depiction of the contest theme.  The theme is very important!   

  • Remember that all work must be original.  You can't copy and paste or hand trace images you find online, and you can't use licensed characters from books, movies, TV shows, comics, etc.

  • Look at Division IV (grades 7-12) past winners under "Bookmark Archive" on this page to get inspired.   

  • Visit the Pollard library or see the contest website for more information and entry forms.

of the 2019 MSLA Bookmark Contest!

Caroline Pollan of Cluster 8-1 was the winner of the Pollard Bookmark Contest!  Her entry was sent on to the state level, and online voting was open for the week of March 11-15.  We asked students to vote for her entry (H) in Division IV to help her get to the next level of judging.
